Step Change is committed to effecting change and improving safety performance through collaboration. They seek to recruit a Communications and Marketing Specialist, to play a critical role in promoting the work of Step Change in Safety to members and worldwide audiences.

This post is offers a unique opportunity for a self-directed individual to play a vital role in a small team. You will develop and implement a marketing & media communications plan, clearly identifying a target audience and the appropriate communication channels to reach them. You will also build on and maintain media relationships and coordinate specific media work.
In addition, you will:

Identify, develop and maintain relationships with our members, key media and internal and external stakeholders.

Develop, manage and deliver complex projects with will command member and media attention and coverage.

Support the delivery of our key programmes with creative ideas, partnerships and public relations activity that maximises member coverage for our campaigns and safety improvement initiatives.

Produce high-quality copy for all internal and external communication and ensure brand compliance for all materials produced.

Manage the company website and social media feeds to ensure that we deliver effective information to our members and stakeholders across multiple platforms.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate you are capable of;

Leading the marketing and communications strategy. Proactive, flexible and with a ‘can do’ attitude, you will have the ability to manage multiple demands with minimal direction.

An excellent working knowledge of the oil and gas industry will be essential. In addition, we are alos looking for a candidate with :
Experience in using multi-media and social networking channels to build member and stakeholder engagement campaigns.

The ability to initiate, develop and implement media activity covering complex issues.

Experience of developing and building a wide range of partnerships to create public profile and impact.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
The ability to work independently without direct media and communications management support.

Step Change in Safety is a non-profit member-led and owned organisation which has more than 140 oil and gas operators and suppliers as members. The organisation was founded in 1997 with the strategy to reduce injury rate in the North Sea by 50%.

Since then Step Change in Safety has delivered significant and industry changing projects and guidance, including Safe Working Essentials, Workforce Engagement, Boots on for Safety, Joined-Up Thinking and Major Accident Hazards learning, which have been adopted by across its membership.
